BARRETSTOWN CHILDREN’S CHARITY:
PRESS PLAY - 40” TVC
"Our whole life was on pause…"
This was a tough one.
Asking ordinary folk to open up and share their emotional, heartfelt and deeply personal stories about their children and themselves is no easy task. Ensuring that the participants were comfortable in the setting, comfortable with the questions and trusting of the director was essential. And the result was that we were all humbled by the honesty of their contributions.
Thematically we needed to combine the parents’ stories with home-movie footage of their children, archive footage of Barretstown camp in full swing, incorporate a piece to camera with the Medical Director, Dr Jane Pears, and include the Call-To-Action graphic. That’s a lot of different types of content to unify into a coherent narrative, and required a high degree of creative collaboration between client, agency, director and our editor, right from pre-production through to final delivery.
Our brief was to create a long-form video of approximately 3 minutes that would show to the viewer the impact that childhood illness has on kids and their families. And the benefit that Barretstown camps has to offer them. We then created a 50” TVC that had to encapsulate the key emotions, the benefits and the call-to-action. An emotional and impactful production. View the full video here.
